Are inner tubes made to any kind of regulated standard?

I'm starting to think modern inner tubes are made out of recycled factory second Durex products

I just had to change the rear N/S wheel again, this is the 3rd time in 2 months!

Practice must be doing me good, it now takes me less than ten minutes from jack to torque wrench... not bad considering how fking heavy a Land Rover wheel is.

I don't mind replacing a flat after off roading but I haven't gone offroad yet this year. 2 letting go sat on the drive and 1 shearing its valve off going round a corner is bit much banghead

The valve shearing off suggests the tube was twisted during installation. Have you made sure there is no damage to the inside of the rim or the tyre that may be causing the punctures?

The second time it happened, wire brush and an angle grinder, painted the inside of the wheel rim and checked the inside of the tyre by running my hand round the inside with a latex glove on (it didn't catch or tear)
Took it to a different tyre fitter, new tube (different brand) lots of talc, made sure it wasn't twisted.

Two weeks and 105miles later...

Did both tubes have punctures in the same place?

I always try try to fit Michelin air stop tubes if I can, if you put one next to a cheap tube (kings tyre) or whatever they are called you can see and feel the quality differance. Bit more expensive though

Punctures are in different places.

This (flat) is a 7.50-16 Michelin tube (don't know if its an air stop/self sealing type... I'd guess not rolleyes) the two before where 'Heavy Duty' made in China jobs

I've ordered a set of later (Land Rover 110) wheels from e-Bay, suitable for tubeless tyres so I'm going to fit those.
