Hi!
Right, so I need to find somebody who could firstly cut a small plate 180mm x 25mm out of 1-2mm steel (mild or stainless makes no difference), drill a couple of 6mm holes and put in a couple of 90 degree bends, then braze onto a brass expansion tank for me. If necessary I could source the plate and make it myself, just finding a brazer is proving quite difficult.

If this is you or you know of anybody in the Hertfordshire or close surrounding county's then please let me know.

Many thanks smile

If you try to braze steel to brass you'll melt the tank. Silver solder is used for this(lower melting point).
A better solution is is to soft solder the two together. Lightly emery cloth the area to be soldered to clean it up and then don't touch it. A good electric soldering iron ought to be man enough to complete the job as the bracket sounds quite small.

Brazing seems to be a lost art!!

I had some done through a "mate of a mate" as a favour. Took ages for the job to come back and then not very good. I wish I could have found somewhere to pay for it and get a proper job.

Correct!

However this particular one is off my TVR 3000M and has a few dents on it so I found a near perfect one in a scrappy, however it doesn't have this bracket on it.

That is a job for a local radiator repairer by the look of it.

Steel will solder to brass but brass to brass would be easier (and easier to bend/drill if your resources are limited)?
Probably not the cheapest place to buy but a good Model Shop should sell suitable pieces, unfortunately not too many left nowadays frown

Bend the ends of the bracket flat so there is plenty of contact area, tin the flat faces and the areas of contact on the tank, put together, apply heat and should stick like scensoredt to a blanket wink
