It's stopped supporting any weight, if you push the handle the lifting pad rises, but then if you push on the lifting pad it won't hold and acts back on the handle.

It's like a non return valve is broken internally.

Everything externally looks fine, no oil leaks or escaping air.

Any idea if this can be fixed, or am I looking to get a new one?

Thanks

Is it full of jack oil? Although when mine needed topping up it still worked it just would not go to full lift.
So then this sounds like the seals have failed. In theory you can swap them out, practically that depends on finding some replacements.

Yes, full of oil. I'm not 100% it's serviceable it's a Halford own product and only been used about 12 times in 3 years.

I bought a branded one though a local hardware store. It must be 20 years old now and still works fine, custard on request smile but its cold up in the garage.

You may just have a bit of dirt in one of the valves -sometimes they leave swarf in the internal passageways. Strip it down and flush it out. Has worked for me in the past.

Seals gone maybe? I had an old Halfords one which failed like this. I couldn't find replacement seals so ended up binning it and buying a new one

I'll have a look at the weekend and see if I can service it, though it sounds like getting to and finding a replacement seal could be a problem.
Maybe I'll just have to get a new one, any recomendations?

I should add that my Halfords jack was from the early eighties which is why I could no longer find the parts.

You may have an airlock in it.

open the release valve,
pump the handle 10 times slowly (full stroke)
tighten release valve.

I have the Advanced 3T jack from Halfords still in its box here, unused as I have just got hold of an Arcan jack. Send me a message if you are interested.
