How are you gents securing your tool chests/roller cabs? Having read the small print on the house insurance my garage doors don't meet the required criteria so therefore I wouldn't be coverd if my stuff got nicked.

I am getting nervous about this as we have a lot of pikies that roam the area around where I live and they will nick anything.

I currently have a two piece roller cab so is the best thing to bolt top and bottom together, take wheels off and bolt it to the floor? Any other ideas as I'm sure even when the drawers are locked it would be easy to get in them with a pinch bar... Thoughts appreciated.

Well you could start by not telling everyone your name , job, where you live and the fact you have valuable tools in a relatively unsecure garage on a public forum...

I have roll cab, middle, top and a small easy to carry around box.

They are all chained together throught the handles and they are also chained to the garage wall.

If someone wanted them that much they deserve to get them if they remove all that lot

I had two snap on tool boxes together with lots of other equipment stolen. Its a very stressful experience especially as this was my business and it stopped me working.A few days with alot of scrap metal and a welding kit soon had the workshop like Fort Knox!its the only way.
You can never stop a brake in but you can make it very difficult. They do not like noise, light and they want to be quick. So make it very hard work to get in,bars, locks, anti ram raid etc.An alarm that makes a hell of a racket together with 500W lights that come on.Then your stuff bolted to the ground. Also don`t "advertise" yourself, keep very discreet.

This! Best way is to stop them getting inside in the first place, if they get in, they will nick other stuff and damage your toolbox trying to take it!

As for your question, mine is at work, locked in our "office", locked in the factory, in a secure, guarded compound....

I have moved it all in the meantime, think I will bolt it to the floor when I move it back...
