Jacking points
Discussion
I'm converting my Mk1 Clio into a race car, it is currently on axle stands supported on the rear axle and front subframe, interior stripped, doors, boot, bonnet etc. However I want to remove both rear axle and subframe along with the rest of the parts so need to move the axle stands. I'm wary about their positioning as I have noticed in the past that the underneath of the body of the car slightly deforms - even at the standard jacking points.
How do I get around this? At the moment I'm thinking of just placing some short lengths of 2x1 between body and stand to spread the weight.
What do others do?

I would be tempted to run a plank of wood or some 2x2, 2x1 under the whole width and put the stands 6" to a foot in either side
With doors off be careful that the shell does not deform, you may need to put a bar across the door opening or also support the middle under the floor
More wood and stands
