I've gone a bit mental and confused myself!

I have a 70mm socket with a 1" drive. I use a breaker bar on this socket.

I'd like to torque correctly to 280Nm - ideally with a torque wrench with a 1/2" or 3/4" drive (as they're a lot cheaper and easier to find).

What converter do I need for a torque wrench to fit my 70mm socket with a 1" drive?

Thanks. smile

Doubt you'll get a 1/2 inch to inch adapter. If you're getting a 3/4 torque wrench, I'd spend a few more pounds and get a new 70mm socket that fits the drive without needing an adapter (though you can get 3/4 to inch adapters, but sure you'll get a new socket cheaper).

You could be right.... Thing is I already own the bar and socket, which weren't cheap....

You could consider:
1/2" to 3/4" http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Socket-Adaptor-Impact-1-... About £11 incl p&p
and
3/4" to 1" http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-4-Female-to-1-Male-Air... About £3.50 incl
Both cheapest on ebay ATM.
