it wont go past 3000rpm!

I have a opel astra 1.7 diesel 2005 reg and it wont rev over 3000rpm it pulls well but every gear it wont go past 3000rpm the car drives fine and sounds fine apart from that anyone have any ideas please

If it has an EGR valve ry cleaning that.GL

Hello there.have a good look under the bonnet for any obvious problems.change the fuel filter and air filters.check for an exhaust blockage ie blocked cat.then take it for a diagnostic check.thats what I do/would do.cheers.rob

As above, EGR valve.

3000rpm is the limit for "limp home mode" so the computer isn't happy for some reason, get it diagnosed and see what the computer isn't happy about, then fix it!
