Hi, hopefully a car genius can help with my problem.

I have a 2.0T Mk2 TT and when I start it up from cold it always coughs and splutters for a few seconds and then starts. Once it is on it runs fine and also starts fine if I start it once it has been on.

I have had the coil packs replaced under a recall warranty so it shouldn't be them. I also don't think it's the battery as from experience it doesn't sound like its struggling because of low voltage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Coolant temp sensor is always a fave choice on these engines, it is only held in with a daft little horseshoe clip and take a couple of minutes to swap, use only a GENUINE part.

Ah now that would make sense. Web it's cold outside the coolant light flashes up! I'll try changing the sensor

Thanks for your help

I have the same problem in my mk5 Golf GTI for months now. On one occasion the temp warning light came on despite it being -4. I'll look into changing it and report back.
