Trying to find 2.75" OD steel pipe
Discussion
...strong enough to hang a wheel on. Part of a project to weld hangers for winter wheels. The plan is to join a 20cm length of pipe to a metal plate attached to the garage wall. The wheel (72mm OD) sits on the pipe (70mm) just like it would on a hub.
I can find 1.25mm and 1.5mm stainless steel pipe on ebay, but I'm not sure if it will bear the weight when welded to the plate. I've tried Metal Supermarkets but they only have 2.5" or 3". I thought about scaffold tube but this appears to be 48mm standard diameter.
Anybody use 2.75" metal pipe at work apart from for exhausts?
