Mk1 Octavia bonnet cable snapped! help needed!

Hi,
Have a 2003 skoda octavia, 1.9tdi elegance. bonnet cable has snapped at bonnet catch end. I have got new cable but cant see how to open the bonnet. have already tried smashing the grille out & trying to undo the torx bolts to release the catch but cannot get a purchase on them due to the angle. Anyone had same issue or know how to get this open?

any way you can get to the lever that the cable was attached to?
you could try and pull it with a long pointy nose pliers or similar

thanks for the advice, the cable had detached from the bonnet latch. going through the grille was expensive and impractical. managed to get it open by getting the car up on stands then fom underneath rooting around till i managed to locate the correct part of the catch and flip it towards the os. This takes a little patience is def the most cost effetive means of resolving the problem.
