Euro Car Parts
Discussion
Hi all
I just wanted some opinions on a situation i've encounted with Euro cart parts, I've used them 3 times and twice they have sent incorrect parts but it's the last incident that is causing the problem.
I bought a few service parts as they had an offer on at the time and i knew my car would be needing a service soon. Due to weather and work commitments it was 5 weeks until i carried out the service and found the pollen filter was wrong. I spoke to the head office who orignally said "get stuffed" after speaking to my local depo they said bring the invoice and the part (it boxed and resalable) after getting there i just got the usual the invoice is over 30 days so can't help ect.
I understand that it would be wrong to expect a refund, but i don't want a refund just the correct part. Am i being unreasonable to expect to give them back a resaleble part in exchange for the correct part?

they frequently feck up orders
I once ordered a part which was non-returnable, they sent the wrong part then would accept the wrong one back as it was non-returnable
bloody idiots
when i finally got it through to them and they agreed to take it back they told me that I couldnt have a refund, I could only have the part I ordered, I told them that I was entitled to a refund if I wanted one, but I actaually WANTED the right part, which was the whole point in ordering one.

i would have thought there is no time limit on the wrong item being delivered, they have made a mistake and not supplied what you paid for, they have supplied you with something you did not order which you have offered to return to them. If they don't want to supply what you paid for they should return the money

I dont rate them.
They put offers on and change the parts that were already cheap to contact by phone.
When you do they actually are not cheaper and try to sell a different part.
A bit sly really, although prices pretty good.
I've used them quite a lot over the years. Important that you check and recheck the parts you get, as mentioned wrong parts are not uncommon. Ime the OE stuff is good value. The alternative cheaper stuff is a false economy, often worse quality and not fitting quite right. They put offers on and change the parts that were already cheap to contact by phone.

OP did you do click and collect or the mail order option?

This is very strange, I've not had one issue in over 10 years.
Me neither. Heard a lot of bad stuff about them, but i've used them regularly for both personal and work orders and theyve been very good. The only time anythings ever been wrong is with multiple choice filters, but they are swapped over usually within 2 hours with no charge whatsoever. So I can't complain.
I have to say I have been using them for 7 years now and yes I get the odd part incorrect but we always get it sorted, I suppose it depends on the branch and the person at the time.
I think they are good, most parts are good quality and a fraction of the main dealer price, sometimes even dealer boxed parts
Arrive.

The OP just said the pollen filter was wrong - not that the incorrect part had been delivered, I took that to mean the OP ordered the wrong part for their car. If it was the OPs mistake then I don't see why ECP should take it back.On the other hand if the part supplied wasn't that which was ordered, or they had specified the incorrect part for that car then I would expect them to take it back months later.
The only issue I've had ove quite a few years is that where there's a choice of 2 different shape or size parts for a particular model of car, they unerringly supply the wrong one. Luckily my local place are good about swapping parts. A couple of times when it's been important stuff like brakes they've even suggested I take both and bring the wrong one back which seemed quite a good idea.
Used to work in the factor business (worked in the parts business for 35 years from sweeper upper to director), ECP are really B2b but do sell to retail. They recently won the contract to supply KwikFit instead of Partco (Unipart)so may be much more stretched than usual
Hard to get parts wrong as it is done from reg number on mastercat, it is probable their are multiple choices. There is no great skill in supplying parts these days. They would normally tell you if there were multiple options though.
Go in and speak to local manager and ask for exchange shouldnt be a problem.
I havnt worked for them but know people who have and they are very demading of staff and have undergone massive growth in the last 20 years.
Based near Wembley and owned by 2 brothers.
If not using dealer supplied which are often better value for money (cost a little more but fit and last longer) or buy branded from a factor.
Best example I can give is timing belts, if possible always buy a genuine one as if it fails it will be backed up with warranty and I have seen dealers pay out for replacement engines. If you cant get a genuine then you would go for a Gates belt or then a Dayco but would avoid the cheaper end. Cost of failure far out weighs any cost saving.
as for filters you can see the difference when they are split open and often genuine dealers ones are made to a higher spec than ones of the same brand but supplied to the aftermarket.

I've stopped using ECP. The local VW main stealer is only about 10% more expensive which seeing as I only buy service items only equates to a few quid.
Which is worth it as I'll normally drink a couple of free coffees between playing on their playstation and taking sneaky glances at the greeter totty.
