This not really DIY, so I guess the Lounge is apt.

Having tried moderately unsuccessfully to grease a couple of hard to reach nipples under a car (yes.... snigger, get it out of the way now! smile ), with a pistol grip type grease gun, I wonder if there's an alternative gun that might make life easier?

My main issue is not knowing or being able to see if any grease is being delivered - along with the sheer awkwardness of pumping with a pistol grip.

Has yours got the bendy nozzle? Perhaps you lift your car higher. As for how much to put in that has always been an odd one for me. I have a habit of changing the nipples if they are in grubby spots.

Didn't spot this bit of PH - so thanks for, moving. smile

I guess I could spend a little as this is for a new Morgan which I intend to keep - and the suspension needs greasing every 500 miles.

Does anyone have any experience of the air grease guns? I have a compressor.....

If my experience with Sealey grease guns is anything to go by, that will be in the skip within 10 minutes. Macnaught for me, please.

Yep, they can get airlocked so you have to check that the thing is actually shooting grease when you hit the trigger - it still makes the right noises even if no grease is exiting.
Also they tend to be just as bulky as a lever-type manual gun.

This is what I use: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GREASE-GUN-TECALEMIT-BRA...

Get it on axle stands and get yourself under it. You will know if a grease gun is firing grese through the nips by one of two ways - first, if its doing the job the resistance is higher, or more reliable yet, all systems with nipples will force used grease out of a joint somewhere. Look for the spent grease coming out, wipe away with a rag, book another track day. Immediately.

It is helpful - thanks...

I bought myself a Draper air grease gun - it makes it easier as its a simple and effortless trigger pull which is good when you're at a funny angle.
