VW Polo mk3 coupe, 1993, with sunroof for added difficulty

I was wanting to wire in footwell lights to work off the interior light. located in the roof
so i went ahead feeding the new wire down with the red and brown wires from the interior light.

now under the glovebox these wires have a connector

this was disconnected as i wanted to tie some string to it and pull the wires red and brown back up the A pillar, leaving the string in place to pull the 3 wires back down, i soon realised that this idea wasn't going to materiaise. so stopped. leaving the string attached and the connector hanging freely

Back to feeding the new wire down with the other two, without my knowing while feeding the wire down, I must have pulled the coonector up into the A pillar.

no biggie i thought, string still connected i'll just pull it out, easy. pulled and pulled, no buge then ...

the string broke. confused.gif !!

now I'm up poo creek without a paddle.

there is still a bit of string attched to it , but not enough to pull it out,

to get more access the dahboard has been removed too.

the connector has gone up the first hole into the A pillar and is wedged somewhere up there.

i have contemplated cutting and shutting the pillar, but its a bit extreme for now, so any advice?
