Bought some Halfords own brand 10/40 semi synth yesterday, priced at £19.99, trade card gave me a huge £1 off. Last time I bought some oil from there (10 months ago), it was almost half price with the trade card. Anyone else experienced similar ?

I think that when stuffs on offer, so you don't get the offer with a trade card.

Seems to get about half price off tools, but it's fking random with other stuff.

Already had 5 litres of that but it was for a turbo diesel, and ECP was shut. Halfords trade card used to be good for their own brand stuff. Not so good now it would seem.

Oil discount is always insignificant compared to other stuff. Must be something to do with margins. Discounts on things like bulbs and otehr consumables are massive.

get a trade account with a proper motor factors. We get over 50% off oil. Halfords are a waste of time unless used as a last resort, get you out of trouble shop.

Normally use Euro but Halfords is open Sundays. £1 off is a bit of an insult.

Yes, it does vary, but it's very good on some things, tools in particular:

8-60Nm professional torque wrench - Normal = £74.99. Trade price = £39.99.
60-300Nm professional torque wrench - Normal = £84.99. Trade price = 47.99.

Total normal = £160. Trade price = £88. That's £72 off, or 45%. Pretty decent on those items.

ETA: I've also had it where retail discounts didn't apply to trade prices. So something which was on offer actually became more expensive with the trade card! This could be the case with the oil in the OP? Was it on discount already at £19.99?

No it wasn't on offer, have got some really good bargains with my card on batteries, tools, wipers, bulbs and own brand oils before. Wondered if the scheme was changing .
