Hi guys,

I am looking to put some garage locks that operate by a key or similar. I'd like them flush in the garage door and to operate a bit like a front door lock - the big chubky key one instead of the yale lock. Basically, I have remote control openers but they can activate if put in your pocket and before you know it the door has been open all night!

Inside bolts are not an option as I want to lock and unlock from the outside.

The door is like this:

Thanks for any help.

Not really an answer to your question but I fitted a garage defender (google it). It's a big lump of metal fixed into the concrete in front of the garage. IMO it's a much more secure way of locking my garage rather than replacing the lock on the rather flimsy door.

probably a boltlock somethng like this, may require a bracket to be made but seems the most suitable

I have one of these too, in conjunction with an electric opener. Bought it from these guys:

Thanks guys. I can't have something in the floor as the cars are rather low and the garage is on a slope so it will hit the underside of the car. The lock looks decent but it kinda works the wrong way. The garage sits flush in the wood so the key needs to make an bolt go away from the door and into the door frame.....this one looks like you have to push the end in, like a padlock. Maybe I can adapt it to work.

The bit of the garage defender which is bolted to the concrete is only about 1.5 inches high. The rest is padlocked on to this. Don't know if that will work for you though.

I have a pair of these on my garage and on three occassions the local scum have tried to break in, but they have never been successful thanks to these locks.
