After years of coping with a poxy 2 ton trolley jack and car axle stands, I have finally had enough, I just cant get decent clearance for certain jobs I'm attempting.
I work outside and have a limited budget so a pit or 2/4poster are out of the question. After doing some research, 6ton axle stands (extend up to about 2ft) and a suitably tall jack seem like a fairly sizeable improvement but are there any other methods I should consider? Has anyone come up with more cunning methods, found interesting alternative kit for working underneath?

Jacking the car up 2ft sounds iffy
