The ball bearing ones definitely feel smoother but you get more cabinet for your money with the simple sliders

halfords currently have some good deals on these but cannot decide what to go for

I have a mixture of both and apart from the satisfaction of laying put my tools for the first time and enjoying smoooooooth operation it makes absolutly no difference to me now..

For your home kit, it doesn't matter.

For anything that's going to get used, ball bearings. If you don't pull out slider draws (and some cheap ball bearing) ones straight, they jam up.
