I'm currently spending a lot of time hiking in various places and whilst I have a high level understanding/can make sense of flora, fauna, weather and space, I have a woeful 30yo forgotten GCSE level of understanding of the actual ground I'm walking on.
I'd like to be able read the landscape I'm in a little better.
I enjoyed the BBC documentary 'Men of Rock' which was an interesting introduction, however I'm looking to delve a little detail without it being too heavy/academic; it needs to be digestible.
A book pitched like Tristan Gooley's excellent 'The Walker's Guide to Outdoor Clues and Signs: Their Meaning and the Art of Making Predictions and Deductions' or the youtube equivalent.
Any suggestions please?
