Ever since the Young Simpo embarked on his scientific voyage many moons ago, grasses have been in the Gramineae family.

Now I discover that Gramineae are called Poaceae instead. Who did that then?

Probably some masters or PhD student needed a thesis.

I work in microbiology in industry and the constant genus name changes can be a pain when doing investigations and risk assessments.

I remember when Sarcina lutea became Micrococcus luteus. I hope these things change in light of new genetic evidence, rather than just the modern desire to 'update' everything all the time.
