Bought this little tin Kaleidoscope. https://www.kaufland.de/product/204368981/?kwd=&am...

Makes some lovely images which I'd like to capture.
I have tried 50mm, 100mm, 200mm all with and without extension tubes and I just cannot get a nice pic with my slr.
It looks like that I cannot get the camera sensor close enough to get a pic anything like which you can see with your eye.
So any optics specialists out there can recommend a solution? Well one that doesn't cost a ton of money smile.

Remove lens and try a pinhole in a body cap? Should in theory give you infinite depth of field, but you'd need a long exposure and / or high ISO

Spent a couple of hours trying that to no avail... frown.
I could get focus but it only showed a tiny proportion of the potential image without any of the reflections.
The sensor plane needs to be a lot closer.
Think I'll have to borrow a microscope or..
I suddenly remembered that I have a magnifying lens somewhere....
