At least Borisov is easier to spell than Oumuamua.

Actually, could it be a message from the Universe? Borisov......Boris..Off?

Interesting. They probably need to monitor it for a bit longer to refine their calculations of its trajectory around the sun to confirm if it really is on an open parabolic path or a closed orbit.

I’m guessing they’ve come back because noone believed what they saw the first time.
“Honestly, they’re knowingly destroying their own planet with CO2”
“Get out of it, that’s ridiculous”
“And they’ve got loads of weapons that would actually destroy themselves”
“Very good, Zog, very funny”
“Really. And on one island they’ve spent 3 years arguing about whether they should be in a partnership with the land next to them”
“You know as well as I do that no technologically advanced species would behave like that. Go back and check your data”
“I will, but it’s true, I promise you. And the most powerful leader on Earth think’s it’s flat...”
“Just get out of my sight”

So it's still on it's way in to the Solar system and has been detected at only 3 AU away (I think that's 3 AU from the Sun, is that right?). 3AU is not very far in space terms is it, IIRC 1AU is the distance between the Sun and Earth.

Yes , IAU is 93 million miles - so 3AU would be 279 million miles. Jupiter is 500 million miles from earth.

I think the apparent discrepancy between the description of "on it's way into the Solar system" and "3 AU" (Neptune is about 30 AU out) is that Borisov is coming in from about 40 degrees above the plane of the ecliptic, and would be thought of "in" the Solar system when it approaches the ecliptic.

Almost Correct Eric at this moment in time Jupiter is 521657864.32 Miles current travel time at the speed of light is 46 minutes and 40.3700 seconds

Indeed which is why I stated “at this moment in time”
