I had read about these a while ago. I love the dual ammo.

Probably not a bad idea. They still have a 9mm Makarov pistol in the survival kit apparently.

The Soviets also fitted their Salyut 3 space station with a 23 mm cannon, normally used in the tail of a TU-22 "Blinder" bomber.

They fired it remotely too. Well you would, wouldn't you?

Interesting, the Germans had somethign similar (combined mixture of shotgun and rifle) they made as a survival weapon for downed pilots:

Of course, everyone knows what you want in your space station's gun locker is an M41A...

Slightly disappointed that this is to deal with a ‘bear approaching after landing back on earth’ situation, rather than ‘alien entering international space station’ situation.

Well sure, they SAY it's for bear, but we all know what it's really for.
