Smart kid.

Unfortunately, a working reactor that sustainably produces more energy than it consumes is probably still the usual 30 years away.

I was about to add 'unfortunately that has been the forecast for the last 30 years!'

and only on re-reading saw 'the usual' beer

it wasn't clear to me what the kid actually achieved, the 'validation' appears somewhat odd - from a forum of fusion fantasists as far as I could tell at a quick glance. Having looked closer, still seems an odd and potentially Darwinistic pastime, but each to their own!

Even got distracted into the description of neutron detection as it tripped over the other end of a conundrum currently dealing with at work - the fusor.net definition of achieving fusion is to detect neutron; detecting neutrons (or more to the point; measuring them accurately) is something that I now need to understand a lot better than I used to!
