This is in the sky at the moment.

Phone camera is not good enough. I've put my camera battery on charge. With any luck I will have enough charge to take a shot soon.

It was even more spectacular last night as the moon was even "newer" and the crescent was ultra-thin.

When I was in Madeira last year, I had a day’s deep see fishing, leaving the port before first light. Not much light pollution out there, and this phenomenon was visible, the new moon lit by earthshine. And so many stars.

It was, sadly, better than the fishing was.
