I was in two minds about posting it here or in the Lounge, since original source was last week's New Scientist and I didn't want it to descend into the gutter, here it is. I sort of recognised the description of pleasant relaxing feeling as something I'd had felt from time to time in real life experiences like a massage or being cared for.

I was sceptical this state could be achieved with just a video. So this morning I decided to test it and watched my first ASMR video. I have to admit I found it rather incredible, the relaxing effect came on very quickly and deeply for me.

That vid could be described as quite sensual or even errotic, an attractive woman flirting to camera, but the feeling is being relaxed not aroused. However that is not the only type of ASMR video, so I decided to try one of the audio type as well. The sound of light rain, while the effect was not as strong or quick for me, it was most certainly there.

I found the fugue type state persisted after the videos/audio until I willful broke it by focussing on something, but still remain relaxed.
So give these a try and let me know what you think.
Please feel free to add any scientific based reports you come across, empirical experience and to add any videos that work for you.

Doesn't do much for me, although the French bird is certainly very easy on the eye.
She's from Israel I think, multi lingual and very bright as well as being easy on the eye.She learnt to speak English by watching Harry potter movies and if you close your eyes you can here Hermione in a lot of her pronunciation!
Her make-up is next level and looks different in every video.

He had no clue what asmr was but his reaction to the vid was very amusing.

I only discovered this was a thing recently, on these very forums in fact, but for me these whispering women don't work in the slightest.
For me it works when watching someone draw or paint, I think drawing works best. Either close up or over the shoulder type of view works best.
An ex-girlfriend used to be able to make it work on me when sort of breathing near my ear but I can't even explain what she was doing exactly as it wasn't an audible sound or anything but more a transfer of heat.
In terms of videos there are loads, some about magnets being pushed around which are fairly relaxing but don't really do it for me.
