Photo taken by the Chinese Longjiang-2 satellite which was launched last month.

As the article linked below explains, two Longjiang satellites were launched as subsidiary payloads with the Queqiao relay satellite which is now in position over the Lunar farside where it is expected to act as a comms relay for a forthcoming rover.

Good stuff. The ability to communicate with a spacecraft operating on the far side of the moon is something no other nation has done yet. This is a genuine first for the Chinese.

To parallel polar exploration, putting the food caches in place...

As (and I simplify a bit here) China has all the West's cash because they work for 1p a day so their products are cheap and we buy them, as opposed to our own because everyone needs £30Kpa and human rights and paternity leave and flexitime, the way is open for China to embark on the next step of mankind's voyage. What we started, perhaps they will continue. Smart cookies those Chinese.
