Space pod

A company in the US is working on the design of a small, one person spacecraft as an alternative to spacesuit EVAs - similar in concept to the pod seen in 2001:a space odyssey

Not sure if this is the first time someone has seriously looked at designing one, though the concept goes way back to the 'bottle suits' promoted by von Braun and Arthur C Clarke
