Hi all,

I saw the evening with Al Worden advertised in a leaflet and thought it might be of interest to a few people on here. There are a few dates around the UK:-

September 28, 2017
London, England
50 Years of Space Exploration
ExCeL, London

October 7,, 2017
Leicester, England
World Space Week
National Space Centre
Time: 10am

October 9, 2017
Aberdare, Wales (UK)
An Evening with Col Al Worden
Coliseum Aberdare
Time: 7pm

October 14, 2017
Sheffield, England
World Space Week Presentation
Sheffield Hallam University
Adsetts Building
Time: 12pm
6:30pm (Cinema)

I've tickets for the Aberdare evening. I saw the talk by George Abbey about his time in NASA, in Swansea last year and it was an interesting insight, so I'm really looking forward to hearing about Al Worden's experiences.

Pity I can't make the London one as that's the most local to me.

Aberdare one for me, just tried booking but it was having none of it.

Hopefully there are still places available.

It looks like there are still tickets available. I booked my tickets through this web site:

I'll be in the Aberdare audience. Such a random thing to bring to a small town in the valleys! Really looking forward to it though

I'm going to book my tickets tomorrow over the phone and save the £2.50 booking fee. I also want to double check that Al Worden will be signing books. It looks like he will be.

I've read a lot of the Apollo stuff, and I rate his book very highly.

The sheffield one is fully booked already. I could do the spec centre one but it's split into 3 segments. Breakfast, autograph and Q&A.

Looking forward to my trip to the middle of nowhere for this tomorrow night.

Tickets still available so maybe they could distribute some for free to local schoolchildren.

Well here I am in The Coliseum in darkest Aberdare. Just now I bought some chips and the girl recognised from my accent that I wasn't local. I tell her why I'm here and then a bit about Al Worden. "Oh" she says "Is he Welsh?"

I've got the one with "SCEtoAUX - What the hell does that do?" on the back and the panel layout on the front.

Al Worden's talk was short, sweet and full of nice bits of humour.

Lovely stuff.

I agree, short and sweet! Would have liked the opportunity to do a Q+A, but never mind! Got my copy of his book signed rather than a copy of a picture which would never see the light of day again.

For an 80+ year old guy, he was remarkable! These guys were made from the right stuff!
He clearly didn't think much of the shuttle and its limited capabilities!
A very enjoyable evening, only spoilt by the result of the football which I managed to catch the second half of!

Pity he wasn't appearing a bit more local to me. Worden always comes across as very much "his own man" and has very forthright views on lots of issues.

He probably didn't want to do Q&A because someone might have mentioned stamps!

Back in 1991 I went to a talk given by Jim Irwin. He was happy to take questions - but nobody mentioned the word "stamps".
