Astronaut and biochemist Peggy Whitson touched down safely in Kazakhstan on Saturday after her extended stay of 288 days on board the ISS. This brings her total time of being in space to a record breaking 665 days off the planet. Along with the four spacewalks she did this time to add to her previous tally of six, she spent considerable time researching and conducting experiments including studies of cancerous lung tissue and of stem cells.

"I’m looking forward to seeing friends and family, but the thing I’ve been thinking about the most, kind of been fantasizing about a little bit, are foods that I want to make, vegetables that I want to sauté, things that I’ve missed up here.”

Jack Fischer and Fyodor Yurchikhin shared the Soyuz module ride back to Earth.

They gave her a bouquet of flowers as she was resting in her recovery chair. A nice touch from the Russian recovery team.

They'd have got it wrong anyway. Most journalists are completely innumerate.

Anyway here's a nice shot of the capsule touching down as the landing rocket fires.
