Tim Peake's Soyuz capsule at the science museum
Discussion
During a day trip to London on Saturday, we ventured over to the science museum with our daughter.
Surprisingly (to us, anyway), we happened across Tim Peake's Soyuz capsule. It's being exhibited at the far end of the ground floor, near the café where everything is tinted blue.
Some quick phone pictures below, if anyone is interested:

Good stuff. I intend to make a trip up there sometime in the next few months. I always like wandering around the space and aviation galleries and the added incentive is to see Tim's spaceship - which I haven't seen yet.
Last year I went to the Russian spacecraft exhibit which was hosted by the museum up to March 2016.

I was amazed how small it was in comparison to the Apollo reentry vehicle they also have there. Seemed a real tight squeeze for 2, let alone 3!
Dimensions wise, it's more akin to the Gemini than the Apollo. They can fit three people in because they sit on lightweight couches rather than large, bulky ejection seats as was fitted to the Gemini. Also, the object on display is the re-entry module only, not the whole spacecraft. The Soyuz also has, attached to the front end, what is sometimes referred to as the Orbital Module or the Orbital Workshop. When that is added the habitable volume inside the spacecraft is more than doubled.
Would any PHers be interested in a group PH Trip to the Science Museum?
About ten years ago I organised a trip to the RAF Museum at Hendon which I think we all enjoyed.
As mentioned above, I specifically like the aeronautical gallery and the spacecraft section. They also have a decent section on astronomy.
And, there are, of course, other aspects of engineering and science on display.

I visited the Russian exhibition too and posted up some pics in the thread. That was back in December 2015! That's gone quick.Last year I went to the Russian spacecraft exhibit which was hosted by the museum up to March 2016.
It's the first time my nearly 3 year old daughter has visited. We have been meaning to take her for ages, finally got the time on Saturday and she absolutely loved it.
I think the main exhibition is robots based at the moment. They are running some Earth shows in the Imax too.
Oh yes, they are also showing Tim's descent back to earth in VR. I didn't get chance to do it as I was with my daughter. Looked interesting as I walked past everyone sat with their headsets on.
