Film that looks back at the career of Gene Cernan, the last man on the moon. Some great archive footage of early NASA, Gemini and Apollo missions, combined with Cernan looking back at his career.

Very good.

I'm hoping to get the DVD of this. It was shown in some cinemas but did not get a general release in the UK.

Thread resurrection...

I assume that this is the same programme, currently available on BBC iPlayer.

Interesting programme, but unless I missed it they did not cover what had to be one of the biggest gambles of his life when he passed on the opportunity to be the LM pilot on Apollo 16 in the hope of getting the commander's slot on 17.

They did cut out quite a bit - but that's the nature of TV/film - they can never go into the detail contained in a book.
