Data from the LHC indicates ( among other things ) that the Higgs boson may not be a fundamental particle, but is a composite made up from other particles like the postulated W' boson

There are also implications regarding symmetry

Interesting - looks like some great new discoveries may be on the horizon.

The work that is being done there is probably beyond the understanding of the man in the street, myself included!.

This needs to be changed, as I believe that the ongoing research will load to a range of discoveries that will fundamentally affect our technical world, people must be educated into the relevance and importance of this.

If the Higgs ( and other particles ) turn out to be composites of other particles, then it could lead to the discovery of currently unknown forces, and who can guess where that could lead. Perhaps a fuller understanding of how gravity operates

Indeed - we never know where research like this will lead.

Lasers, for example where an academic curiosity for around 50 years before one was built. Even then it took a reasonable length of time to realise their potential.

Can anyone imagine the modern world without lasers?
