Sounds fantastically impractical to me. Not least because I doubt you could get DNA to "hang" from a substrate like that in the first place, let alone the bits about hoovering it up and sequencing it in any meaningful way.

I've never been sold on this dark matter halo idea either. If it interacts gravitationally, why does it not spin like all other matter in the universe and flatten out?
