Worth a read and quite interesting even for fools like me.

I always thought that light could be a direct trigger for certain portions of the brain but never thought that memory would be one of them.

Amazing story and also a little scary, might explain why I could never remember nights out to clubs.

Fascinating stuff. These advances are increasingly amazing. I wonder if this research might give hints as to the fabled bright light that near-death experiences seem to produce? Like the 'light' erasing all
memories including involuntary breathing?

Only if you have been "genetically modified so that when nerve cells are activated, they both fluoresce green and express a protein that allows the cells to be switched off by light".
