Jupiter - cracking view tonight :)

For those that don't know...
Look up a little from the 3 main stars of Orion's belt. There is a distinct reddish/orange star & that is Betelgeuse. About the same distance up again is a big star which doesn't twinkle. Jupiter.
I can't remember the last time I saw it as clear as tonight.
Maybe last night, but I wasn't looking!

Also tonight if you have a good enough telescope you will see the two shadows of Io and Ganymede on the surface of the planet.

Even with only binoculars you can see Jupiter's four largest moons which move quite visibly from night to night

Mars was also very bright, low in the North East from about 22:00 onwards.

Mars is at opposition on the 8th March, it should be at it's best then, but it will be good for viewing for a couple of months. It's been a while since we had a decent view!
