Hothouse was one of the first adult scifi books I read and I was entranced.
Helliconia showed he hadn't lost it decades later.

I thought I still had Helliconia but it seems I moved them on around the family.
I liked Aldiss as a Sci-fi writer but I reckon he's better at irreverent stuff.
Read the Hand Reared Boy, great stuff.
But that was ages ago, just realised how long ago.

Prefer Fred Hoyle myself if we're doing British sci-fi and of course Wyndham. (I vote for Trouble With Lichen as one of his best)
