Cure for Alzheimer's & Parkinsons on the horizon
Discussion
Big ray of light in this one, potential cure for almost any neuro degenerative disease. If this pans out it would be a massive step forward.

This is fantastic to see. My gran passed away with Parkinsons and Alzheimers and it is absolutely horrible to watch. I mean it is really like you watch the person die, then you watch the person die. She was so bad towards the end I don't think she could eat and she became extremely thin and weak. And its not like she just passed in the night either, she didn't go gently. As various things began to shut down she really struggled to stay alive.
I dread this happening to my own Mother. News like this makes me feel better and if it works these guys, like many before them deserve proper recognition. As it is, the nation seem to hold absolute vacuums such as those from Made in Chelsea in higher esteem. Makes me sick.

Saw this on the news today and, when accompanied by the earlier posts on this thread, made me realise how painfully slow the research can be….

My father died this time last year after having been affected by alzheimers for the last few years of his life. I hope it doesn't sound too pedantic to say I'd not describe this development as a "cure". It looks like more of treatment to slow things down if caught early. Still great news though and might help lots of people in the future.

It seems to slow the onset by 25%. So if it was going to kill you over eight years it will now take ten. More importantly I think is that the causal factor has been identified, and from that more effective treatments might be developed.Gassing Station | Science! | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
