We shouldn't have to rely on wealthy individuals to decide what their interests might be in order to move science forward!

If these personal individuals were taxed appropriately and not allowed to amass such obscene levels of wealth, organisations like NASA et al would flourish. State funded research moves mankind forward in all-areas. Private funded research is extremely selective![/i]

Perhaps 'Minerve' should be reminded of all those technological and scientific advances brought about by War - maybe another global conflagration is needed to move us on in the 'right' areas...

Nope, it's not oil in general - it's specifically Deepwater Horizon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepwater_Horizon, may be it was the deepest well to date? That seems to be in the Chayvo oil field now. Or is it the oil well in the deepest water?
