There is no purpose. Even as biological critters we have an urge to procreate, and pass on our genes, but even then, what is the purpose of that. We are simply a happenstance due to circumstance. What is the purpose of a pebble, or a blade of grass, or a pool of water?

We have no purpose. We are not special or chosen.

We are here because the physics of the universe allow us to exist and the pure luck of existing on a planet with favourable conditions for life and the time for that life to evolve.

I find that much more reassuring, fascinating and interesting then having been created by an omnipotent super being for some purpose that we don't yet know, and I don't need to wake up early on a sunday morning to worship it, so it's a win-win.

I might be wrong and if I am, when I die you can have a good laugh at me as I roast in the fiery depths of a hell I don't believe exists.

Why the obsession with "why?"

Why does there have to be a purpose?

We are simply a product of millions and millions of years of evolution, where the whole point is to survive and reproduce. We've just evolved to a point where we are intelligent enough to be self aware.

Quite simply, we're just spiralling coils of self-replicating DNA.

I blame gravity. Be the end of us as well. Any point? Nope.

Because in my eyes, we killed off all competitors leaving us the dominate ape species..

''The killer ape theory or killer ape hypothesis is the theory that war and interpersonal aggression was the driving force behind human evolution. It was originated by Raymond Dart in the 1950s; later it was developed further in African Genesis by Robert Ardrey in 1961.[1]
According to the theory, the ancestors of humans were distinguished from other primate species by their greater aggressiveness and this aggression remains within humanity, which retains many murderous instincts.
The theory gained notoriety for suggesting that the urge to do violence was a fundamental part of human psychology, The hunting hypothesis is often associated with the theory, because of similarities and because Robert Ardrey has developed both.''

To raise the generation after that. Life's only purpose is to try to continue.

We are all here for a very specific reason. Each of us has a definite purpose.

We are robots, wonderfully described by Dawkins as ‘Gene Machines’, fashioned by natural selection working on random mutation.

The robot that you are has morphed through geological time, blindly changing, exploiting niches, one of which being the current advantage of having a massive brain despite the energy requirements that entails.

Your reason is that you are currently one of the successful robot templates available within the gene pool available to your ancestral line; you are one of the currently available bodies that DNA uses as it stoically marches on.

You are a tool for DNA.

This has wonderful consequences, I for one am looking forwards to the Moto GP.
