Just how big is it and how small are we?

Is it growing, shrinking or is it a fixed size?

What's it all about.....are we simply an atom in a giants chair?

Sitting here I have no idea myself other than its a mind blowing question!

It's really big, really really big. We're really small.

It's expanding, and accelerating.

No.

Enjoy smile

This can't be ruled out.

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving,
And revolving at 900 miles an hour,
That's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power.

The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour
Of the Galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our Galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars
It's 100,000 light years side to side
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light years thick
But out by us it's just 3,000 light years wide

We're 30,000 light years from galactic central point,
We go round every 200 million years
And our Galaxy is only one of millions and billions
In this amazing and expanding Universe
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know,
12 million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.

So remember when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely it is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
Because there's bugger all down here on Earth.

This sounds like a call for a Credo

I believe it is bigger than I can imagine and I have quite a good vivid imagination

And that it is smaller than it will be…

mind you I AM insignificant frown

I'm probably out of step here, but there is something, that I can't quite put my finger on, about that individual that makes me want to punch him, very hard, repeatedly.

He's considerably cleverer than yow.

Young, brainy, good-looking.

Yeah, I hate him too.

There is another .gif of the size of planets which is very enlightening, Earth in the grand scheme of things is very small.

Maybe the universe is extremely small and we are even smaller. What scale are we using......

If you're talking human scales, the universe is a pretty good approximation to infinitely big.

It's not that big, it's just a lot closer than we're led to believe. A proper big ladder and you could reach most of it.

He was actually a really nice, down-to-earth guy before he got on the telly. What he's like now I couldn't say, but his on-screen personality does him no favours.

He brings science to the masses, which can only be good. He's a good communicator. And yes, I did think he was Mark Owen from Take That the first time I saw him spin (well, Brian May is an astronomer!)

It's really big and we are trivially, laughably small.

Even more hate.
