Boston Dynamics do military research for automated robots, their main thing is BigDog, a four legged robot designed to carry a few hundred pounds of kit over terrain. This is where they got it to the last time I saw anything about it, walking over rough ground, rocks, ice, hills and taking a kick to the side and still standing.

Its impressive, creepily lifelike, kind of looks like two guys facing each other carrying a box, and makes you think Skynet is real and we will all be killed by Terminators in the future. Since that video, they've developed it further. It has an arm now, it can pick stuff up and throw stuff, like breeze blocks.

Now, carrying a soldiers stuff is all very nice and useful, but with stuff like drone planes being used, this with guns must be on the cards to be developed.

its pretty cool. but they need to swap out that highly annoying 25-50cc motor to something more tolerable. it reminds me of my nitro rc car

Seems like the back legs have a bigger stride than the front.

Petman. I love the way its pitched as a robot for testing chemical suits. Why would you use an expensive team of scientists to develop a robot to replace one unskilled person. In five years that thing is going to be carring a gun into battle.

We've had autonomous weapons platforms for decades, once you've got them walking about, you have terminators smile
