Perpetual motion????

Yep
But no, not perpetual motion. A little convenient that there's a hidden bit in the middle which keeps it all running, isn't it?
Just think. If the ball is being pulled towards the magnet, then pulling the magnet away from the ball takes at least as much energy...
Which, correct me if I'm wrong, is imparted by the pendulum system????But no, not perpetual motion. A little convenient that there's a hidden bit in the middle which keeps it all running, isn't it?

Interesting.
The vid ends abruptly, there must be more?
ETA....just found this.

Correct me if I am wrong (as I am very likely to be) but I was always taught that a perpetual motion machine would need to ability to covert energy into movement and back to energy again with 100% efficiency. In this case the movement of the ball would be suffering from friction loss via the air and the rails, even if those loses are very small in terms of % lost, its still a loss and would eventually run out of energy and therefore not be perpetual motion.

At the risk of ridicule, a serious question if I may? Is the Universe as a whole a perpetual motion machine? A closed system with a fixed amount of energy within?
No one of two things will happen- either all the entropy will be evenly distributed, in which case everything stops. or it massively contracts, in which case everything ends.
whatever happens, its not going to be perpetual.
At least thats what current physics shows us.

Which is not perpetual (and the panel will fail long before that).
Perpetual does not mean 'for quite a long time' - it means FOR EVER.
Yeah, I know, I was just trying to add to the story being generated. Perpetual motion is not possible based on physics as we know it!Perpetual does not mean 'for quite a long time' - it means FOR EVER.
