Just peeking out at the night sky this evening, what are the 2 planets / stars almost in alignment with the crescent moon?

Both quite bright but the highest one more so viewed from South London area

The 'highest' one is Venus.

Has a very distinctive pinky/orangey glow to it as well.

try google sky for android. nice we app to help you find your way around.

Tonight about 8.30 see both Venus and Jupiter. In the SW, Venus will be just above the moon while Jupiter will be pretty bright just below to the right of the moon. Then at about 11pm if you look south Mars should be well up in the sky (just under the belly stars of LEO) and Saturn should just be starting to rise in the SE pretty low down (just below the constellation VIRGO).

Busy sky at the moment and doubly good with the current weather.

All we need now is a few ISS passes

Moon, Venus and Jupiter look amazing right now.
Very bright in the sunset.
Looks quite surreal.

Agreed, I got some great views of jupiter this evening and could make out 4 moons with my telescope.

I saw Venus in the daylight today at 5pm today. If you know where to look (ie. Google Sky Map) then it is just about visible with the naked eye.

The crescent moon, venus and jupiter are putting on a great show again tonight, even in light polluted NE London.
