Ever since I was a kid I have been fasinated with the Pyramids and other ancient structures around the world, how they where made, who made them and the standards to which they where built.

Anyway I recently found a documenty that some of you may be interested in. If you want, as a taster, start the clip at 51.35 and watch for about 15 minutes to give you an idea of what the documentry is about. Some of the figures and measurements involved are incredible, for example the Egptian unit of measurement 'The Cubit'.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cubit

I know it's a long documentry but when I first watched it I was only going to give it about 5 minutes and I got hooked.

Sorry about the subtitles, the documentry keeps getting taken down and then re-uploaded, at the moment this is the only one I can find.

Before I start to watch it, it isn't some woo filled program about aliens building them, or anything like that, is it?

Like I say give it 15 or so minutes and see what you think. I found it very thought provoking biggrin

I was looking into so ram pump theory today.
It looks interesting, but overall a lack of motives to build a number of huge gravitational pumps of various sizes next to each other.

I believe there is going to be more info published soon about that door like panel with the pins in, where they sent the robot and drilled through.

Short version would be nice. Is it all about the cubit and how it was used to measure and build the pyramids?

The Lounge is the right place for the "woo woo" topics, in my opinion. I'd like to keep this forum - now that we have it after a long period of lobbying - for relatively serious science discussion.

What have pyramids got to do with science?

(Civil engineering perhaps).

And and and.....;)

Waiting for the verbal version. Human endeavour and skill?

Edit. Oh dear, looking at that link a few posts up it gets a mention on disclose.tv and ATS. Don't go near them with any marbles you want to keep.

The Pyramids have been scientifically debated for hundreds of years, the subject has as much right to be in this forum as anything else.

Also Nice to see people who propose to be members of the scientific community commenting and judging without looking at the subject context. smile .

The video explains far better than I ever could.

Haven't got time to watch videos at the moment so you had better explain teh "science" contained in the video.

As I recall last time we had a scientific pyramids debate it was about whether the granite blocks could have been cut with copper tools. If I remember correctly (apologies if I'm mixing up people) Westy was expounding the theory that they had to have been cut with iron, or similar. I strongly disagreed and found a paper which seemed to support my view.

Haven't watched the video from the OP yet. I'm always wary of any ancient Egypt related documentaries...
