I was having a conversation with a moon landing denier, and as it turned out, a flat earther too. At least he is prepared to be proven wrong though, which is quite refreshing.

How does he imagine the earth looks fron space? Is it just a big disc in space, or is it a flat surface with no end?

I don't actually think any flat earther is serious unless they are a proper loon. I can see why people might not believe the moon landings, but flat earth takes a special kind of ignorance.

He doesn't imagine space at all.

Usually, it’s all AI, but they can never answer the question on what provided the illusion before AI was around.

I have seen the Moon referred to as being a hologram before too by F.Es.

Whether he would change his mind is another matter.

So there have been thousands of experiments done over thousands of years that prove the earth is not flat, all are consistent. There is not one single flat earth experiment that has proven its that, flat, not one.

Him sitting in an aircraft peering through a porthole is a failed experiment. You need to be something like 40000+ feet up and have a wide angle of view to detect by eye the curve, and even then its a very slight one. The main issue with flat earthers is that they fundamentally do not understand scale, they cannot grasp the sheer size of the earth. Because they dont understand things, they refuse to accept them as true instead relying on failed experiments like the one your friend mentioned.

Oh he’s not a friend, it was a stranger on a science page. A science page which CTists love to try to (and consistently fail to) troll.

Gotcha. Ironic he is on a science page with no idea about any basics of it biggrin
Must enjoy being ridiculed.

So why did you bother to reference him?
He’s obviously a person of no scientific, engineering or historic knowledge whatsoever.

Quoting morons is in itself a rather moronic thing to do.

I get your point, but I wouldn’t say he is a moron, and it interested me that he was prepared to have his viewpoint on flat earth changed.

When CTists get to that level, there’s usually no return sadly.

I would. Merely holding such a lunatic viewpoint qualifies him as one.

A person can be articulate and seemingly bright but that does not mean they aren't also a certifiable loon.

Maybe his wife won’t do it for him?

Anyway, conspiracy theorists are impossible to argue with:

“There are tiny people in speakers & headphones who sing all the songs. The tape or CD or whatever is the instructions for them.”

You dismantle a radio to prove this is false…

“They ran away.”

I’d really like to thank Eric sincerely for all his posts on this - fascinating stuff.

Like I said, I was a little bit worse-the-wear. Bored. And I needed some entertainment and reading material.
Are you admitting now that you invented the rich physicist friend?

Understandably It’s going take to take a ‘giant leap’ for yourself. I understand.

But, Ken.

But perhaps you should get over yourself ?

Mods. With respect and I do apologise.

Can you please delete the thread completely.

It’s adding no value.

Shame really some great stuff by Eric.

This imaginary physicist friend of yours that told you that you need GPS to land on the moon, did he get rich through his physics, or are you pretending he went into finance ?
