me and a mate are looking at finally doing this this year, he's been abroad loads but ive never been anywhere other than ireland, so complete novice.

has anyone here ever been, or done f1 abroad anywhere, and got any advice that might come in useful.

ive gotta start by getting a passport which will be fun.

looking at driving it, bit of a top gear road trip kinda thing, so would like to take in some sights and have fun basically

is there the facility to camp near the track anywhere or is it all hotels

There are campings around Spa, but during the F1 weekend, you'll be having a very busy time trying to find one that's still free...

Traffic around the track is crazy during those days. On the other hand, the sound of the F1 engines ricocheting off the hills... Yummie smile

Try this campsite http://en.eaurouge.nl/ Stavelot is the local town and a great place to eat and drink. Be quick. The campsite owners speak English.

I'm planning on going to Spa to this year, look into campsites at the moment and eaurouge is fully booked it seems. Any other suggestions? Planning on getting there on Friday evening, going for general access tickets so will have to get there early on Saturday to figure out the best places to sit for the race.

Hi guys, I have booked spa and going it alone!! Very nervous but hope to meet some fellow PHers on the way. Made a few errors already such as booking a grandstand rather than gen admin but can still explore the track on fri/sat.
Found a good campsite 7miles away with beer tent, showers and full English. Eddie Jordan even gets thrown in on sat night. Going across Thursday afternoon and staying over mid way so I can have a blast around the local villages. Found a good B&B. hopefully staying in Brussels Sunday night and getting mon train back.

I have a spare seat if anyone fancies it? Not many female friends interested........

Would love to chat to some of you about this 07900697343.

Might be wise getting folk to email you via your profile rather than leaving your mobile number on display.

I am off down for the first time with a bunch of mates. One of them went last year so he is being used as the travel guide. 6 of us across two cars, heading down on the Friday and returning on Monday. Booked a nice campsite that is around 8 miles away from the track, they offer a shuttle service which is decent. Proper showers, electricity etc and a stones throw away from Spa itself. Not wanting to put you off but I saw some dodgy reviews of the campsite which I think you have booked whilst researching campsites.

I went for general admission along with 2 other mates, the remaining 3 decided to splash on out on silver grandstand seats. I would probably be nervous if I was doing it on my own, not driven abroad before so it should be interesting.

Some mates and I are off to Spa for the GP, we've not been before so have got Gold tickets for the bus stop chicane.

Any tips for the trip over? I've heard somebody suggest going via Antwerp rather than Brussels due to the traffic.
