Cam belt time - any other jobs worth doing?
Discussion
Impreza in for full cam belt kit next month along with Water pump. 04 WRX with 109K.
As it's going to be a "big spend" I've decided to pull the yearly service forward from March, so it'll be plugs, filters (all) , oil and coolant at the same time.
Any other jobs worth doing while it's up on the ramp?. I've thought about replacing the Modine hoses, the Gearbox / diff oil was done last year so no need for that. Is it worth replacing anything like the Thermostat ?.

why the water pump ? my last one did 198k miles and is still working , i’ve never had one fail on any of my 10 subarus i’ve had , cam belt tensioner is a definite if doing a cam belt , things to consider based on when they were last changed are , plugs , oil filter and oil , coolant , the rear diff definitely gets dirty quicker than the gearbox oil ,fuel and air filter , follow the subaru service schedule and i’m sure it will be fine
Thanks for the replies gents. The water pump will be done as the area is accessible when all the gubbins is off and they’re not vast fortunes, in fact ICP offer a kit with a pump included. For the sake of a few quid I guess it makes for good preventative maintenance. The car is my daily so I don’t mind spending on it.
Good shout on the engine mounts, never even considered that. I’ll do a check, and see if ICP have them. Are they the same for EJ205 / 207?.
Cheers.

Right, the final bill was £747.77 inc VAT
Which included full Gates Cambelt powergrip kit.
Water pump and gasket - cast impeller type (Subaru)
Thermostat and gasket. (OEM)
2 Modine hoses replaced.(Subaru)
Fuchs Fricofin coolant to 50% (surplus returned)
Shell Helix and HKS Filter Oil change (I supplied the oil and filter).
Overall I think that's a fair price, the mechanic also ran a full scan on the system, no faults shown apart from the disconnection of the Cam position sensor when he did the oil change and "primed" the engine with a few turns on the ignition and also to check everything was OK. No CEL showing so I guess that's cleared itself.
Engine mounts are fine, the "U" frame could do with a refurb / replacement as it's pretty scabby apparently so I might well source another or pull mine and sand blast / zinc coat it in the summer.
I'm going to sluice it underneath to get rid of the road salt in late March. I don't have a pressure washer but there's been a shedload of salt dropped this year and I admit to be concerned about it. I have Dynaxe'd the sills, (behind the covers) wheelarches, most of the subframe and as much of the chassis I can get to, but this year it's getting the ACF50 treatment I think.
However, she's getting old now and although it's the best car I have ever had and I've got an emotional attachment to the damn thing, my hormones are pushing me towards an M4.
Guys, talk me out of it.
