Future classic or money pit?
Discussion
I have a 2004 Impreza WRX wagon with 70 000 miles.
2/3 of the last MOTs have been expensive and together have come close to the value of the car.
My question is, do I keep getting it repaired ( mostly rust underneath) , in the hope it will gain in value , or do I cut my losses and scrap it the next time the MOT costs me more than £500?
I know it won’t be a 22B , but prices seem to be rising slightly £4-5k as opposed to £3k 4 or 5 years ago.
Wagons are rarer than saloons but are they wanted?

I too have a Blob wagon and personally I think I have/will spend far more to keep it going than it will ever be worth but I like it and it is a special car for me and that's what is important. If you're keeping it going purely for future gain then a WRX wagon is probably not the best choice.

I'm looking at importing a blob wagon wrx. They're incredibly clean and untouched underneath. Could always scrap it or sell towards a new import.
My wife has Mini Countryman D and with home working it’s difficult to justify having two cars. She thinks the Mini is wonderful and she be reluctant to sell that. One plan I have in mind is selling both and getting a JCW Mini Countryman. Yet to drive one but on paper the performance is about the same as my Subaru.
Any thoughts anyone?

Go large or go home. Whilst the sale price may look attractive, once all the shipping and taxes are included it becomes an expensive car landed.
There is little market for an expensive WRX wagon. Fine if you want to keep the car long term but you could just as easily by a UK car and spend the difference getting it how you want.
If importing a JDM I'd always say go for an STi as it will be diserable once landed.
