Subaru Legacy steering
Discussion
I haven't posted on Pistonheads for years but used to be a regular forum member. Anyway, I've just sold a perfectly good gen 4 Legacy which I ran as a second car for its practically and replaced it with a gen 5.
I really notice the difference between the hydraulic steering of the 4 compared to the electric steering of the 5. To the point where it feels like a fault
The steering feels very heavy at higher speeds and is quite robotic, the best way to describe it is one small tweak of the steering wheel almost sends you off into a bush if you're not concentrating, at low speeds it's fine. It also seems to get worse on longer journies, but this could just be me growing tired arms towards the end of the journey.
On the MOT advisories it's advising to look at the play in the suspension inner joints plus both sides front suspension arm bushes. But having watches a few videos a battery change could be the cause, the alignment seems ok.
Any suggestions what the main problem may be? Is this a common problem on the gen 5 Legacy?
