Blob or bug WRX auto on the motorway
Discussion
Hi all
Always wanted a Impreza and due to reduced mileage I'm thinking of ending my PCP and buying a car I've always wanted, budget is modest but enough to buy a 2002 ish Impreza WRX, I've driven 1 before including at a track so know what to expect except for 1 aspect, which is that this would be my daily so I'd be wanting an auto. My commute isnt too long but does involve a motorway section.
What is the gearing like on the auto box please? Will to cruise comfortably at motorway speeds? Asking as I've had cars in the past which rev way to high at motorway speeds so don't make for a comfortable run

A new age Sti manual , ratio wise is better , my opinion the auto boxes some can have shorter gears or longer as a lot of the jap auto boxes i have driven are quite varied , plus maybe wrong but most autos of the age you are looking at seem to be jdm cars , you will benefit more with a manual car , worth looking around and maybe increasing your budget
I think you'll find the WRX has the older 4 speed auto. Sorry, I can't be specific on the ratios, but I would point out that box is a little on the clunky side and is heavily front wheel bias. You'd possibly loose a lot of the Impreza character, but I guess it depends what you're after.
